Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions.

  • We receive over 3 million pounds of food a year. Half of it is rescued from local grocery stores on or before the expiration date. Neighbors like you are our next largest source of food donations, providing over 466,000 meals through food drives and private donations.

  • We are funded by private foundations, government grants, and individuals who give financially by cash, check, or credit card donations. Learn more here.

  • We are always accepting donations and looking for volunteers! Click below to learn more about how you can give back to your community today.

    Volunteer I Give

  • Yes! Our clients and their families come to us with all kinds of needs. We regularly supply personal hygiene and pet food supplies to both clients and partner organizations. We do not accept clothing, toys, furniture or most other non-consumable items. If you have a non-food item you’re unsure about, just call us and ask.

  • The Puyallup Food Bank is not licensed to operate as a drop-in center. While we always offer a friendly conversation, walk-up clients will be directed to New Hope Resource Center for hot meals, emergency food bags, or other services. This partnership ensures that people are getting help that truly helps, beyond just food. This also maintains a safe environment for our volunteers to serve.

    • When you arrive for your appointment, please stay in your vehicle. A volunteer will greet you and ask for your name. If it’s your first time, you may be asked to complete a New Client Form (disponible en Espanol).

    • Let us know in advance if you have any special requests: hygiene products, birthday cake, household products. We’ll see if we have any available.

    • While you wait, Care Team volunteers are available to respond to any other needs you have, offer you encouragement, and provide information about service providers, employment opportunities or other resources.

    • A volunteer will bring your food to your car. Once you’re loaded up, give the cart back to a volunteer and you’re all done!

Please wait 30 days before your next appointment.

  • We are happy to reschedule your appointment if you let us know in advance.
