Thank you Steve Fehrenbacher, PHS Viking Motor Sports Club and the Corvette & High Performance Swap Meet for helping raise over $1,000 for the Food Bank by offering pictures with “Tow Mater”! Also, the Pilgrim Lutheran Church Jazz Festival was a big hit raising nearly $2,500 and still counting; thank you! Thank you to all of the corporate volunteers from Starbucks, Macy’s and Green Mountain Coffee. Your help is appreciated more than you know!

Thank You ~ Shanna Peterson

Executive Director’s Corner

During the month of January, we provided food for 2,518 individuals and 703 families (while being closed for 2 days due to the winter storm) totaling more than 30,216 meals. We also brought in 65,318 lbs. of food.

We are in need of the following volunteer positions: driver for Mondays at the South Hill Mall Target, driver for Wednesdays at the Canyon Road Safeway, warehouse for Mondays and Fridays from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Please let me or Shanna know if you, or someone you know, are able to fill any of these critical volunteer positions.

Thank You ~ Bill Franklin

President’s Corner

The Food Bank has been extremely fortunate with the generous donations from our community and the diligent work of our grant writing committee. While monetary donations were up in 2011 and thus far in 2012, we find ourselves in need of food donations. Please let us know if you’d like to help by sponsoring a food drive.

We’ve become a big supporter of the Freezing Nights program by providing substantial amounts of food. We look forward strengthening our partnership with the local churches who are participating in this program; we need your help to continue supporting Freezing Nights!

Thank You ~ Daniel P. Hoffman

Thank you to Green Mountain Coffee and Pinnacle Mortgage for recently touring the Food Bank; we hope you enjoyed it and were able to get an idea of the truly amazing work we do as partners for the community! Please keep an eye on our upcoming events for opportunities to get involved and to support those who support us. Finally, please continue to schedule tours of the Food Bank so we can continue to spread the word about the good work we do for those in need in our community.

Thank You ~ Shanna Peterson

Executive Director’s Corner

During the month of December, we provided food for 1,001 families (272 new families!) totaling more than 47,880 meals. We also brought in 125,996 lbs. of food.

2011 ended up being a very impactful year for the Food Bank! We brought in 1,290,357 lbs. of food which was distributed to a record number of families in our community and to other community service organizations in need.

Thank You ~ Bill Franklin

President’s Corner

We need your help to keep up the good work of the Food Bank! We love our new building but it is not insulated and is very cold for our volunteers. Please let us know if you, or someone you know, have access to insulation, labor, radiant heaters, etc. Aware of any grants we should apply for? Please let us know!

We keep getting better at what we do and 2012 is sure to bring expanded services to our community. We couldn’t do this without the support from our volunteers, supportive community and our staff!

Thank You ~ Daniel P. Hoffman

A recent Top Foods food drive brought in over 3,000 lbs. of food as well as gift cards. We helped Apple Physical Therapy gain 138 Facebook “likes” in a very short period of time and they made a much appreciated donation. The entire Puyallup Valley Dental Care staff recently toured the Food Bank and made a very generous donation with the proceeds from recycled crowns. Top Foods will donate $50 gift cards to the Food Bank for every hour worth of volunteer Christmas caroling at their store so let the singing begin! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Thank You ~ Shanna Peterson

Executive Director’s Corner

During the month of November, we provided food for 920 families (231 new families!) totaling more than 32,424 meals. We also brought in 121,386 lbs. of food. Please continue to schedule tours of the Food Bank so we can continue to spread the word about the good work we do for those in need in our community.
The Food Bank will be closed the day after Christmas (12/26). Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Thank You ~ Bill Franklin

President’s Corner

In 2010, we provided food for 6,969 households and during 2011, we are on pace to feed 8,100 households which is greater than a 16% increase. As the need continues to grow and we head into the holiday season, our resources are definitely being stretched. Now more than ever we truly need your financial support to help feed our Neighbors in Need.

This is an important and trying time of year for many people in our community. We are asking you to please consider making a contribution to help out during this holiday season. On behalf of the thousands of families we serve, we “Thank You” for your consideration.

Your support and prayers are greatly appreciated.

Thank You ~ Daniel P. Hoffman
